ACRO

What is Acro?

Acro dance is a fusion of the artistic motion of dance and athleticism of acrobatics. Acro dance seamlessly blends classical dance styles with acrobatic movement.

Our Acro teacher, Ava, is a certified Acrobatic Arts Level 1 Instructor, enabling her to teach student's skills up to Level 6 of the curriculum.

The Acrobatic Arts curriculum follows five main areas of development: Flexibility, Balancing, Strength, Limbering and Tumbling. These can be located on each student’s individual progression cards, in which they track their progress and skills acquired. When completed (normally starting at Primary Level unless they have prior experience) your child will move up a level as to which the difficulty will increase. At TLA, as advised by Acrobatic Arts, we take our progressions extremely seriously in order to ensure your child’s safety, therefore each child will progress at an individual pace to secure physical safety.

TLA offers three different session:

To ensure all students build a strong foundation in all five main areas of development it is strongly advised that all students also attend ballet classes through TLA alongside Acro training.

Acro 1 (12:30-13:30) - Ages 5+

Class requirements:

Hair - All students must have their hair neatly tied back in a low bun or plaits. If hair is longer than shoulder length, it must be secured in a low bun.

Uniform - The TLA standard of uniform is non-negotiable. It must be well-fitted to the body to allow for free movement and correct form during class. Therefore students must wear the Acro uniform supplied by TLA to every session. Bare feet are also required for Acro, if your child has any medical concerns regarding this, contact us immediately to discuss this.

Hydration - All students must bring a water bottle to each session as hydration is vital during this class.

We look forward to seeing our young dancers thrive in a fun, structured and supportive environment. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our high standards at TLA.

Acro 2 (11:00-12:00)

Class requirements remain as seen above.
In order to trial this session, as it is of a higher skill level than that of Acro 1, students must be able to confidently demonstrate a cartwheel (right or left), sustained handstand for a minimum of 5 seconds and a toes-to-head stretch.

Ballet attendance is strongly advised for this level especially.

We look forward to seeing you in class and helping you achieve your Acro goals!

Acro 3 (9:00-10:00)

Class requirements as seen above.

Please ensure you meet the following criteria before enrolling:

Students must have been highlighted and invited to this session from attending Acro 2 as this session is at an advanced level.

Ballet attendance: All students are required to attend ballet classes through TLA as a part of their training.

We look forward to seeing you in class and watching you continue to grow as a dancer!

TLA Standards and Safety Policy

At TLA, safety is our top priority. As a provider of Acrobatic Arts Acro dance curriculum, we adhere to the highest standards to ensure that every student trains in a safe, supportive and structured environment.

Acrobatic Arts’ progressive curriculum is designed to build a solid foundation before advancing to more complex skills. Students are required to complete progression cards, demonstrating mastery of essential techniques before advancing onto the next level.

We recognise the importance of preparing the body anatomically for the demands of Acro training. Strength and flexibility must develop in equal measure, students will be guided to improve less developed areas to ensure they are ready for more challenging skills.

Our commitment to structured progression not only ensures the safety of our students but also fosters their confident and long-term success in Acro. At TLA, every step forward is a step taken with care.
