Tonicha Jeronimo is a theatre-maker, director and producer-dramaturg with over 40 years’ experience working across television, theatre and performance. Her practice centres on developing new work and re-imagining existing texts, with a particular focus on movement-led, interdisciplinary theatre.

Originally trained as a dancer, Tonicha began her professional career as a performer, including work in long-running television drama. This early experience continues to shape her approach to theatre-making, placing the body at the centre of storytelling and informing her understanding of character, structure, stakes and audience.

Tonicha founded Theatre Led Arts in 2008 and remains its Artistic Director, leading its creative vision and the development of young and emerging performers. Her work as a director and educator is rooted in collaborative, workshop-led practice, bringing together text, movement, music and research to create work that is physically driven and dramaturgically rigorous.

She holds an MA in Dramaturgy from Leeds Conservatoire, where her research explored dramaturgy beyond traditional text development, with a particular interest in producing, adaptation, programming and audience experience. Her practice now brings these disciplines together, working across producing and dramaturgy to develop new writing, interdisciplinary performance and original theatre.

Alongside her work with TLA, Tonicha continues to develop and produce new professional work, collaborating with writers, performers and other theatre-makers from early-stage development through to production. At the heart of her practice is an interest in how work develops: how an initial idea becomes a theatrical language, how artists are supported through that process, and ultimately, how that work connects with an audience.
